How to Check Canadian PGWP Eligibility
DLI status alone doesn't guarantee PGWP. Here's what to verify before you pay tuition.
Recent IRCC changes make PGWP eligibility program-specific. Every applicant must confirm three things before enrolling. Visa and permit approval is solely determined by IRCC.
1. DLI status
The institution must be a Designated Learning Institution. Being a DLI does not automatically mean every program qualifies for PGWP.
2. Program eligibility
Bachelor's, master's and doctoral programs at recognised institutions are typically eligible. Non-degree programs face field-of-study restrictions.
3. Language requirements
PGWP applicants must meet minimum language benchmarks depending on program type.
- DLI confirmed on IRCC list
- Program listed as PGWP-eligible
- Understand PGWP length ratio to program
- Plan language test if required
